We are not as prepared as we could be because the Democrats cut off funding to the research that could protect us back in the early 90`s. Bush reinstated the program in 2001 but we are still 8 years behind in the development.
We can shoot down missles but it has not been tested against a real enemy and it is not fully deployed along our West coast. If we are lucky and are able to shoot down the Korean missile that would be a real coup for America and take away the bite of our enemies world wide.
No more Nuclear black mail.

What happened to the Star Wars Satellite War device the government claims to have up in space. They couldn't have shut that down could they. Isn't that supposed to prevent possible hits to the U.S.? We might be on our own as far as preparations go but I do think that our government should have that up and running at full force just in case if it's true that they have such a device. I've heard little about it but I do not know if it's a rumor or a fact.

There is no such thing as being prepared where nuclear weapons are concerned. There are plans for government survival, but the average citizen is on their own. There is no way to prevent a blast, and there are also no mass shelters for the public to take residence in. Even if there were I doubt you would get enough warning to get to one anyway.
