Rock and roll will never die. Neil Young even wrote a song about it.

Do you know how many people play guitar? Do you know how many people go to rock concerts? People love melodies, drums, and guitar. They love singing too. If there was no rock and roll, all of the fun kind of music would be gone, people would be very upset and bored at work, and no one would have anything to have fun and sing along to.

"rock n roll" has been dead since the late 1950s when the music first known as "rock n roll" changed stylistically

the popular music since then, possibly with the exception of the band The Stray Cats, has strayed so far from the original form that it ought to be called something else

why is it still called rock n roll when it bears no resemblence to what it started off as?

it is commonly accepted that rock n roll itself came from three sources: gospel, blues, and jazz, why didnt they just call this new stuff by one of those names? the answer is it changed stylistically so much that it merited its own name

i think people ought to stop calling it rock n roll

and as far as pink floyd goes, that band's music is the antithesis of what rock n roll was

Rock and Roll will never die because it's the root of all music....look at the number of rappers who use r&r rifts and/or lyrics in their "music" Country now has a rock beat to it......look at the bands that have lasted generations while most other genres have artists that have come and gone and faded away.

For those that want rock to up and die!
People have been saying since the 50s with Elvis, Little Richard, Fats Domino etc. that this was just a phase young people were going through! I'm pretty sure it's here to stay.

Yes, it will, but not in the sense that you were implying. The history of music proves that it will evolve into something new, as technology progresses. Look at sonata form, which used to be an incredibly prevalent style of music back in the time of Mozart. Mozart wrote a song, performed it in front of "sold out" crowds, and his sheet music was sold everywhere. Sheet music used to be what albums are today. Instead of buying a recording to listen to at home, people bought sheet music and played it on their piano at home. Yes, there are many, many people who play guitar today, but there were just as many back then who played piano and violin. Okay, so sonata form didn't "die" exactly, but does it hit you from everywhere like rock does today? No. That's not because it wasn't just as big back in its day. Things change. In another couple of hundred years, rock will not be around as much. Yes, it will still be performed and enjoyed (just like symphonies performs sonatas today) but it will no longer be the main focus. Another style will eventually replace it.

i dont really think it will because there is always some kind of new talent and new bands that will have new fans and everything but the old rock and roll may die but i dont think that new rock and roll will! there will always be somebody to carry on the rock and roll tradition!

People out there enjoy all kinds of music for dancing, listening and shaking their body parts around. As long as people have their own opinions, then rock & roll, country and western, jazz, the blues, classical, and a wide, unending potpourri of music will exist. I am all for it. If we had only one musical choice, how boring would that be. Peace and God Bless.

Nope, rock and roll has been around very long, longer then disco. Its so popular, I highly doubt it. Even if it was to start "dying" out, everyone would bring it back because its basically a big part of our music history. :)
