with no money, family and nowhere to go because it wasn't working out? If so, how did you accomplish this? Not necessary for a shelter of any kind. Reason - you can't just go to an apartment or something and say "can I move in with no money?"

I did!!! My best friend took me in w/no money, no clothing, or any of my belongings!!!! My x husband wouldn't give me my stuff for a long time. I had a job, so I just worked & saved up enough to get an apartment.

I understand because I recently separated from my husband. For a long time I felt stuck though because most people renting apartments didn't call back since they knew I wasn't employed. I do have family that supports me though and now I am renting really cheap from my brother and sharing his house. Without that I would probably still be living unhappily and miserable with my spouse. I hope you are not being abused and since you say shelter is not needed you probably aren't. However, if you are you need to find a way to leave. Doesn't matter if its physical or emotional it is all bad. Otherwise, maybe you two should try to work things out because the grass isn't always greener on the other side.

I stayed at a friend's house until I could save money and move into an apartment. I had a job, so it was easier to save money. Now I have a totally different life and loving it!

If it's not an emergency (abuse), then you should get a job and start saving money to make it on your own. It's incredibly hard to do, this I know. However, being a women who doesn't need to rely on a man to take care of her is very satisfying. Don't get me wrong, being taken care of is not a bad thing, but your happiness and self-worth should mean more. Good luck.

I told him to get out. I told him that this was our son's home and he would have to leave because I was staying.

It worked.
