I don't know what town you live in, but when I lived in Prescott, AZ I belonged to a yahoo forum called FREECYCLE. You would be surprised what you get for FREE.. Plus you get to post what you would like to have and if you want it badly, it will come to you...
here is an excerpt and a link for you (from the AZ area) and a link to try to get into a free cycle in your area...
Freecycle(TM) Prescott, Arizona is open to anyone in the Yavapai county, who wants to re-cycle rather than throw stuff away. Whether it's a chair, a fax machine, wood, a piano or an old car, feel free to post it.
Freecycle(TM) in Prescott, Arizona is somewhere between a garage sale and driving to the dump, but much much cooler. An innovative concept that harnesses the power of the Internet, bypassing the middle-man! The donor "gets rid" of their STUFF, and the receiver gets exactly what they want when the recipient picks it up. Indeed many people on Freecycle(TM) both Give and Receive items on a regular basis.
Freecycle(TM)...is one simple, brilliant idea that's changing the world. Born in Tucson AZ., now all over the US and the world.
To start your own FreeCycle(TM) in your city, go to: http://www.freecycle.org for more information.

And if you're willing to buy, why not go out and buy one? Or go on ebay or something.
