I think the ideals behind Communism were well-intentioned, but it just doesn't work. You can't force people to be equal. It's just never gonna happen. Nature is created in such a way that there is a natural heirarchy/order to things. Someone is always going to end up on top and someone is always going to end up at the bottom.

Peolple need to be free in order to prosper. With communism, the Government regulates every aspect of your life, and its just no fun. Ask Russians and Jews how it worked out for them, they didnt seem to enjoy it very much. Also, with communism, its absolutely impossible to have a fun, thriving economy. China might be doing decent now, but everything they do is bootlegged, its all fake and will crumble within a few years. With communism, everyone lives under fear and oppression. Sure, capitalism may have its major flaws, but its at least youre free to do as you like. Under communism, theres no motivation to do anything. Regardless of how hard you work, or how smart you are, the Government is just going to take your sh** anyway. Wheres the motivation in that? Do you think its good that the people of China fear getting pregnant because they dont want the secret police to break into there house at the 3:00 in the morning with coathangers and terminate the pregnancy? Communism is just absolutely horrible, nobody benefits except for the government. It sucks, plain and simple.

Because communism generally isn't all that conducive to human and social rights. It indoctrinates people with a simple belief system that is actually more complex then they could even comprehend. It also encourages people to be passive participants, because they're not allowed to speak out about anything. The economic system has aspects that are interesting, and I think some things about communism even seem beneficial, but as a whole, it's not a good thing.

It doesn't work-- the fact that most communism nations are a mess and the collapse of Soviet Union shows that. Conditions in most of those countries are atrocious.

In reality, the whole concept of all people being (forced) to be equal doesn't work. Even in Russia, there were people "more equal" than others. The typical working person got screwed at every turn. The whole concept of everything belongs to the state doesn't work-- its against human nature. Most people want to work hard, get ahead and reap the benefits of their efforts.

Civil liberties are pretty much non-existent in those countries.

A Cuban immigrant colleague made the comment to that in communist countries -- "They pretend to pay us, and we pretend to work". (he was very anti-communist)

Because they have no clue about modern communism and what it represents.

There are no communist nations. According to Marx, communism is the desired outcome when the need for the State is gone. Therefore there are no communist nations.

Stalinism and Maoism amounts to nothing more than fascism. Neither have anything to do with Marx's vision.

Mainly because it doesn't promote human prosperity. Everyone is assigned a role in life and the human being cannot fully explore their physical and mental boundaries in most cases. Also, why should one person have control over an entire nation of people? We are all people (even the ruler, czar, king, dictator, etc.) and we are all equals therefor everyone should have a say in how their life is ruled.

Communism has never worked in a positive way. It is terrible economic policy and it is very stifling and controlling. Additionally, prone to being taken over by Dictatorships.

Because communism represents an equality of all people, and to the people who are looking for upward mobility, it's a loss because they have to be equal with the poor people.
