Well I'll be a bit different here- I'm not denying that anything people have mentioned are truly beautiful and I agree with most of them (I do not have kids of my own but I can imagine).

I'm not a really big boxing fan, but the 1975 bout between Muhammed Ali and Chuck Wepner always brings a tear to my eye- it was the basis of the first Rocky film.

Chuck Wepner was a nobody, Mr Anonymous, with (I believe) a shot at the title; balding, out of shape, he managed to last the entire the whole fight against this supposed unstoppable giant, even managing to knock Ali down at one point.

The commentators started the fight belittling Wepner and praising Ali so biasly it was unbelievable, but by the final rounds the cheers of the crowd supporting Wepner as he fough to stay on his feet for the final seconds drowned out the commentators; there was this nobody, sweating like mad, thin hair all over swollen eyes, bruised and battered beyond recognition, standing up in defiance to the legend of the ring.

Not the most beautiful thing in the world, perhaps, except the raw emotion in the building that night was truly heart rending.

A number of things rush through my mind, when I think of your question. Mind if I name a few? Cool!

...a caring hand reaching out to someone in need.

...a mother clutching her baby tight to protect him from some danger.

...a thank you purely given by someone that genuine appreciated what you did for them.

...a young person making something of themselves despite the odds.

...a father being there for his son, making sure that he makes the game, sees the play, goes to the school, and he never forgets to tell his son that he loves him and kisses him good night each day.

...a brother or sister sticking up for a brother or sister, no matter what others might say or think.

...I could go on for years, but I will mention one other thing.

Once, I was in the Phillipines. I had travelled south and was in this very small town. I was invited into the home of a family. They served me fish, rice, bread, and coca cola. I could tell that the family had given all that they had to make this meal for me. I had a place of honr at the table and the children stood around the wall, watching the men eat. The women wer close, too, and asking if there was anything that I needed.

I had taken about two dozen Laffy Taffy with me and had them in a bag. After eating, I had to leave. The children had not eaten yet. I called the children over and gave them the candy. I told them to make sure to eat a good lunch first. They said okay.

I walked out and got into the car of the guy that had taken me to that little town. I looked up and saw that for maybe 50 yards that the road was lined with probably everyone in the little town. They had come out to see the American. My eyes watered. I can not explain the feeling, as I rode in that car and they waved at me. Yes, I waved back.

That was beautiful!

The next day, I told a guy who lived there about the visit and giving the children the candy. His eyes opened wide. He said, "Do you know what they will do with that candy and wrapper?" I told him that I did not know.

He said that they will show the candy to everyone in town. They will share little pieces of it with the other children. Then, when the candy is gone, they will play with the wrappers. They will sleep with them clutched in their hands and cherish them, until the writing has long worn off of the paper and it is just another piece of trash.

That gripped my heart and squeezed. Tears rushed to my eyes and fell to the floor.

Now that...is the most beautiful thing.

the most beautiful thing I've seen is Niagra Falls. Another beautiful place is Canada, the mountains full of snow during winter.

The Lord saved my son's life and answered my prayers for that. He was knockin on Heaven's door so to speak, but the Lord let me keep him. I have never experienced anything so beautiful in my life than when he started getting better and they said he would be ok. The Lord was working in Arkansas Children's Hospital in 2004.
