Will we create technology to a level that we will completely ignore our humanity? Will this ignorance of social order be our demise?

Will we revel in the glory of all our creations, and will our vanity blind us from our fate? Are we able to advance as a species and help our fellow man or will we become steadily more introvert? I believe mankind with all its technology is not better for it.

When I lived in the wild, it was the most peaceful, pure and real experience I have yet to find an equal to.
The simplest of pleasures were so much more enjoyable to me, as they had *Meaning*. Even when food was scarce and we had to quite literally survive on just the most basic of foods(fish and potatoes) for months on end, that was *Living* in its most glorious of guises, as it made one FEEL alive. Life should be lived, not lived in!
Although technology has its benefits within the society we now accept as the norm, I would give it all up in an instant to live back in the bosom of Nature again, were it not for the responsibilities I have acquired through living in 'civilized' society.
Technology to me, will surely be the downfall of, if not mankind, humanity instead.

Yes I believe we will create our own destruction. Technology will play a huge part in it, but what we do with that technology is what will really do us in. We will destroy our environment by forgeting that we have to take care of what we have. And when we finally do remember it might be too late to fix it. Already we are on the way to our destruction. If we look back 300 years the air was cleaner there was not as much disease, everything was better.

no we won't because increased technology has always had the opposite effect. it allows the leasure and the resources to worry about our humanity. sure it can be used in inhumane ways but overall it frees us from the daily worries about food and shelter. the plow changed us from hunter gathers to farmers and the internal combuston engine allowed farmers to grow more than we need and provided a way to get where it was needed. i expect this trend to continue. what will wipe us out will be some outside force like a huge astroid or major climate change.

With global warming caused by man and governments that are in bed with oil companies and therefore not looking for alternative fuel sources (like the tides--FREE, the sun--FREE, the wind--FREE), we are basically just going to kill the planet and us with her. People wonder why there are earthquakes and mudslides and tsunamis and raging fires, it's because we are pissing the earth off and she's trying to shake us off. There's too many of us and most of us don't care about anything but ourselves.

Well, I read your question and I think you answered it. We are self-destructing....I'm not religious by any means, but it ends for us in the bible, and maybe all this time, GOD was trying to send a message. Maybe his plan went wrong and he's disappointed with his own creation (us). Only time will tell, but I do agree we are our own enemies...

Unintended consequences put us in the process now. I'd like to believe that we'll wake up and "smell the roses" unfortunately they smell terrible because of smog and they are wilted because of ground/water pollution. Yeah we'll destroy ourselves because we're the only beings capable of prejudice, hatred, greed, and malice.

It will take miracle to us to survive next 100 years.
