I personally think it is silly to want the state involved in any marriage either straight or gay. Marriage is a formal ceremony stating your intentions before God it is a travesty and an abomination to invite the state to take part in such a union. I have a marriage license but only because my minister required it. I think if I was to get married now I would find a minister who would agree to do it with out the states intrusion. Regardless of if I was marrying a man or a woman. Although as a bisexual I don't think I would ever get married again.

Of course!

If two people want to go through the financial and legal stuff to get married then they should be able to without anyone judging them in any way. People don't look at hetero couples and ask "are they really in love?" when they go to get married... homosexuals should have the SAME rights as heterosexuals.

If people object because they're religious, then let's not have marriage be related to religion at all...it's a civil thing, the church should butt out. If I were wanting to start a business I wouldn't have to get the church's permission. Let people get married in the church if they want to, but a church marriage and a civil marriage are two separate things.

If those same religious people think that homosexuals shouldn't get married because marriage is for procreation, that's a load. We don't force hetero married couples to have kids, don't make them get fertility tested... so it doesn't hold up as an excuse.

yes, it isn't about the word "marry" for me, as I am not christian and could care less about the right wing BS thoughts about marraige, but all the rights and the very equality that is wrapped up in the word and idea of it.
I also think that society who condemns gay people because they are more promiscuious, and are on the fringes of society... but then they destroy the tools that the straights have.
Also all the excuses that the ignorant give that gays shouldn't marry fall apart after being examined with reason.

I would give anything to legally marry my partner. We get scared sometimes over what may happen to us in the future. We both have gay hating family that could easily ruin our lives if something ever happened to one of us. Plus there's taxes and insurance, and all other types of expenses that our joint budget would not get breaks from that other married couples do. It literally sickens me that we are married in every way shape and form and yet we are still denied the same rights by the state just because I happen to be in love with another man.

I certainly think it's the right of every one in this country to be able to marry if that's what they wish be they gay or straight...Unfortunately the homophobic leaders here say nay. This is a very common opinion in the gay community of which I am a part of..
