Thank you for introducing me to a poetic form I did not previously understand. The site explained this poetry exceptionally well, it was easy to understand, and I think it is a graceful, artistic expression of verse. Until today, I would hot have understood or appreciated it.
The only part of the explanation with which I don't agree is : "Hitherto poets have constantly made up for themselves false conceptions about themselves and what they ought to write". I certainly think Dickinson and Poe were writing from honest, personal, emotional pain. Theirs was not trite verse to be sold to the general public ...... it was their way of dealing with life on a day to day basis.
Thanks again for the introduction !
