I like http://www.speedbit.com/
It actually downloads faster and you can resume, pause, and even do ftp downloads. Its totally free!
Its very user friendly and I dont think I can manage downloads without it.

If you want a Download manager then you can choose download manager from download.com. The name of application is download manger.

'Internet donwload manager' (IDM) is the best download manager. Its 5 times faster than DAP (Download accelarator plus).
IDM can handle upto 16 simultaneous thread.
Very good manager.
Totally ad free (DAP is full of adware).
