That happened to me, you have a bad laser, its dead. Either buy a new one or trade it in because Sony won't do anything about it.

Yeah like jacobplano said it's the lazer. Your going to have to go get a new one or trade it in. If you can get sony to help you with that I'd find you extremly lucky, or the place you got it from might be understanding/ nice. Other than that having that sort of thing repaired might cost more than just buying a new one since the new PS2s go on sale alot.

either you have a bad laser OR you have a small gear that has gotten out of place
it was a common problem for most of the early PS2 units & I believe that Sony corrected it in later versions of the PS2
try viewing DvDs & other kinds of discs to see if they will work
your best bet is to call Sony's PS2 tech support...which is a real pain BUT works!

idk maybe it's broken try to return it if that doesn't work then bring it tp a repair shop or call Sony
