You can't slow down aging - it is constant. However, you can slow the impact that aging has on you. Exercise in general is one way, and hence, so is walking. By the way, I think swimming is better for you...esp as you get older. It burns more calories per hour than walking or jogging, and easier on the joints. Also, it works your whole body, not just the legs.

Walking is a low-impact excercise that works most of the body. By continuing to walk you are keeping your heart, lungs and blood pumping and flowing. This keeps your muscles healthy as well as the rest of you (joints, intestinal system, weight control, etc). Keeping yourself "tuned" just like your car, you will "last" longer and feel better. Of course, other factors exist, eating habits, desease, illness, smoking, drinking, genetics, etc...

It keeps your heart pumping and and your blood circulation flowing throughout the body. It keeps you fit and active. And, when you feel better, you tend to look better because you want to enhance the way you look because you start feeling great!
