Only if the "special treatment" includes not getting disciplined when you've done something bad.
The spoiling is just par for the course...sigh.
My daughter attends the school I work for, and I'm constantly having to insist that other staff: 1) don't give her treats from the popcorn/pickle and other sales free of charge, 2) tell her to report to my room when she's wandering, 3) make her clean up if they've invited her to their classroom and she's made a mess,....
etc.
There is one staff teacher there who had a son who was bullying others, and she tried hard to discipline him if/when she knew something happened. However, the administrators and several of the other staff were going "easy" on him, so he just behaved well in his Mom's presence and then was a total snot everywhere else. Of course, now that he's moving up to middle school, he'll be in for a rude awakening... hopefully.
