Why is it so addictive? Being scared, jumping on our seat, that chill in our spine, that uncomfortable feeling... why is it so pleasant? Watching people being chased and killed in gruesome ways... it's so much fun! But why?

Because it's the safest way there is to get a good adreniline rush... all the endorphins, none of the danger

I think it makes people feel safer in their own lives when they see scary things happening to others, even if only in fiction. "Hey, I may have a sucky job, my girlfriend/boyfriend just dumped me, I gained 10 pounds, and I have a rash ... but at least I'm not being chased by homicidal zombies!"
Plus it's an adrenaline rush to get scared like that.

With the fear your body makes adrenaline. But nothing will really happen to you, so it's a very safe kick.
Adrenaline is like a drug, people get addicted to it. It's like bunyee jumping, rollercoaster rides and other things that give you a rush.

It's like having the best of both worlds. It gets you all worked up with suspense, but you're never in any real danger. You just live out the experience through the characters.

Just the same way why so many people of all ages love to go on a really hellish rollercoaster.....for the sheer thrill of it. Every human being has that part of them that just loves violence,blood and gore!!

I think we get sort of an adrenaline rush from it and its fun to guess whats coming next. Also they can make our own daily difficulties appear much more trivial.

i like them because i dont like to be scared in real life. but i like the feeling of the adreniline rush. so that is where horror movies and books come into play

I don't like seeeing people die in movies but scary movies to me aren't scary but then like the movies that aern't supposed to be scary are scary.
I don't get it.
