Running XP... I have the new Yahoo! Mail Beta and it says that my screen resolution is wrong and so the site won't be viewed correctly, and provides instructions on changing it. Well, I did that and it won't change! I click 'apply' and screen goes blank for a second and then comes back on. I click 'ok' and nothing has changed. So then when I open display properties again, it's still set back to the original resolution. Any ideas?

But says the manufacturer is [standard monitor types]
And the driver is from MS.

It sounds like you monitor may not support the resolution you are trying to set it to.

Thats very weird. What resolution are you trying to change to and is it set to 16BIt or 32Bit or 64Bit?

Go to http://www.monitor-drivers.com/ to update your monitor driver and go to http://www.windrivers.com/ to update your video driver. you might just need an update on your drivers so that your graphics card can be compatible with your monitor.

may be your monitor or your video card.

if you have video card problem, try to buy a new one, ATI or G4
these two video card are good brand in the market.
