I've read it, both long & short versions. I prefer the long version. I've also seen the TV mini series & really enjoyed it. I wish I could find it on DVD. I also enjoy Stephen King's monthly column in Entertainment Weekly magazine. I look forward to his column as sometimes, that's the best part of the whole magazine. After his accident, I've noticed his writing has changed. A few of his books weren't so great.

The Stand was a very good book, very realistic, but then Steven King is defiantly an awesome writer, have you read Desperation or any of the dark tower series?

This book is one of my all time faves. The mini-series was excellent, too. Have to say that he developed the characters well and made you root for the good against the evil beings. Very cool book, a bit long, but worth the effort of reading it.

It's quite possibly one of his best novels ever. However, some of his other ones really creeped me out, like It and The Shining. Don't watch the movies, they can't hold a candle to the books.
But yes, The Stand...great read. Very symbolic in the fight of good against evil.

It's a long time ago, like 14 years or so, but I thought it was great!
I still regularly think of that book. The Trashcan Man for instance, I loved that character, or that spooky bit where they are in the tunnel.
Didn't like the movie though.

One of my VERY favorites of ALL time.. I have read it several times.. and seen the series- also good..
But then Stephen King is sheer genius in anything he does..
Now I got a good question to ask out of this..
Thanks!

That book is amazing. I have a hardcover edition of it and have read it cover to cover a number of times. I definitely want to get started on Dark Tower over the summer.

Read it as a teenager and loved it. Reread it in my late twenties and thought it a bit shallow but with some excellent characters and incidents. I still can't forget the "sweet treat" in the tent.

I have read that book like 3 times. It's a great book. I wish Captain Tripps was real and I was a survivor.
