my employer just called me, she said drug test was good. She said i have to wait for background check result. it could take 2 days to 2 weeks. Im wondering they do background check at the same time with drug test or they do it after drug test result.

I don't think it matters. Some will do it first and some after. It's also quicker to get drug test than the bg check.

Typically an employer will do the background check AFTER your drug test. The reason for this is that drug tests are not very expensive to do, but background checks are very costly. If you cant pass the drug test, why would they want to spend the money on your background check.?

Good Luck with your new job!

They could do either.
If I was the employer I would do which ever is cheaper first, get the result then do the more expensive one. In some states you have to pay for background checks. That way I wouldn't waste my companies money on both if something showed up on the first one. If something shows up on the second ,well I would still be out the money but at least there was a chance I could save a little money.
Every penny a company saves helps with benefits and raises for the current employees. Gotta watch the bottom line. :)

i'm not so sure, but i bet a drug test and a background check cost money. Now if you fail the drug test then why should they give you the background test. If they do both at the same time and you fail in one then they waste money.

I'm sure every company does things a little differently. It makes sense for them to do the least expensive first, wait for a result and then proceed with the more expensive hurdle so they don't waste money on an expensive background check on someone who failed the drug test.

Probably the cost involved. The employer does the drug screen first as it's less expensive, if the applicant fails, then there is no need to spend money on the more expensive background check.

Probably the same time. Background checks take longer and go through a different source than drug test. They want to hire you if they're doing this, so relax and be patient.

Usually after the drug test.

after drug test. If you test postive for drugs they have no reason to do a background check because they won't let you work for them

Usually they will after the drug test it makes sense because if there were drugs in your system they probably wouldn't hire you.
