Asthmatics and others with respiratory problems should be especially careful as air pollution is expected to be high with ozone warnings.

The Department of Environmental Conservation will issue ozone warnings. Ozone is formed when emissions from vehicles and industry reacts with heat and sunlight. It is a major component of smog.

Health officials recommend limiting strenuous outdoor activity when ozone levels are highest, usually between noon and 6 p.m.

Those most susceptible to ozone include the very young or old, and those with existing lung ailments.
