Why won't the US embrace soccer?

Could it be all the diving? Perhaps inept refs? Or teams getting into defensive shell..slowing game to a crawl? Maybe the fact that guys can come back onto field seconds after appearing as if they were mortally wounded...FIFA needs to get this crap out..unwatchable

Because it is the most boring thing short of cricket in sports. Watching paint dry is more fun. Curling is 10X as exciting.

Because they are not the best team and cannot buy their way to the top. Thats not a dig, I just think it's true along with the fact Americans are, for good reasons, more interested in more 'home grown' sports. Basketball, baseball etc etc.
Also some comments mention that the US doesn't back loosers. Thats a mentality which precludes an interest in soccer. It's a game one has to be prepared to loose on occasions.

Its too slow... too little use of team work (not so apparent teamwork) and strategy (compared to American Football or rugby or ice hockey) too much emphasis on individual skills... and too much running back and forth, I feel tired for those players, and most of the time too boring, kicking the ball here and there for no good reason. Probably the total time for excitement in a soccer game is only about 15 minutes max. All others is just running, getting the ball here to there, occassional fouls, watch ice hockey, even the fouls become an entertainment on its own. Yeah!
