In your opinion who is a better guitarist from a perspective of sound not musical capability?

Jimmy Page.

I think they are both excellent guitarists, and while they would probably be in my top 10 favorites list, I don't think either one of them would be in the top 5.

One of the things I like about Page is he's sometimes so sloppy. Zeppelin's Black Dog is one of my favorite songs ever, and it's mainly because Page is so sloppy and slurred through parts of it.

Also, while Page does use effects, he doesn't use them as much as Hendrix does. I prefer a bit cleaner guitar sound, rather than a lot of distortion and effects.

Then there's just the basic fact that I like Led Zeppelin's music better than Hendrix's in general. I can listen to Zeppelin for days on end, and enjoy all of it, but if I listen to Hendrix, I only listen for the guitar work, because I don't like a lot of the actual music. (Although I must admit, his version of All Along the Watchtower is my favorite version of that particular song.)

I'd say Page, but it's tight. Page has the better sound when he plays. That said, Hendrix was probably a much better musician and influenced the way the guitar is played more than Page did. Page's sound was so good that he didn't influence how the guitar was played, he influenced people to play the guitar.

I love them both but Hendrix is the man. Hendrix is the only best left hand player of them all. He was chosen by the Rolling Stone magazine as the best guitarist of all times.
