go to edit, prefrences, iPod (if you have a pc). somewhere there should be a checkbox that says "start iTunes when iPod is connected" or something like that. Is that box checked? If it's not, that could be the reason why iTunes doesn't do anything when you plug your iPod in. Make sure that box is checked. If that doesn't work, go to http://www.apple.com/support/ for help on iPods.

I had an issue with mine that required I update the software on the ipod itself. I also could not get itunes to recognize it. You might check Apple's site, and look through apple communities boards for more info.

Do you get carry of the main cutting-edge version of iTunes put in? attempt to connect your ipod touch to a distinctive laptop with iTunes and observe if it truly works over there. sure, you will lose all your advice, yet then you truly easily basically connect it back which contain your previous laptop and observe if this is waiting to connect now, else attempt upgrading/downgrading or reinstalling your firmware.

if you have a Mac it will automatically take you to iTunes.
if you have a PC use your installer disk that came with your shuffle and load on the iTunes software.
then go buy a Mac....LOL
