- - - if you don't know "Fiddler on the Roof". If Tevye were a Rich Man, would he have stayed rich very long?

Yes, he would have stayed rich. His thrift would not have disappeared just because he was rich.

Yes, because I think his wife was thrifty enough for the both of them. Tevye only made a show of complaining of having to feed another mouth, and his wife Golde made a similar comment of "another blessing," but I think if she ever got her hands on a fortune, she would be very good at budgeting - or continuing to budget. Look at how well she did with just the livestock her husband had and their farm. What did he have - like one or two cows?

i don't think so because he would "build a big tall house with rooms by the dozen,right in the middle of the town, fine tin roof w/ real wooden floors below. there could be one long staircase going up and one even longer coming down, and one going nowhere just for show." that doesn't seem like good money management to me. the property taxes would be sky high. plus all day long he would biddy,biddy,bum. there can't be a large profit margin in that :)
