Wax is produced to protect our ears from damage by loud noises. In a sudden loud BANG situation, the ear will rapidly produce wax to absorb some of the sound and protect the eardrum from damage. As the nose and bellybutton don't need this kind of protection, then wax in these orifices is unnecessary. Of course, why we produce nasal mucus and bellybutton fluff is yet another matter!

you kind of do have something similar in your nose and your belly bottom doesn't need protecting from bacteria/dust, you can just wash to do that. ear wax and snot protect the inside and they are different because thats what works for that part of your body, if our bodies needed wax in our noses then that is how we would have evolved through natural selection.

Because we have hair in our nose to keep dirt and junk out. Belly buttons are too small and cramped to get anything major in there so u just clean it out yourself. We need wax in our ears to keep bug and clods of dirt out.

the wax is there to keep the inner ear clean, dust etc cannot get past the wax, we don't have it in our nose because we have hairs up there which act as the same kind of barrier thats why you get bogeys, and you ave probably got fluff in your bellybutton because you havent got wax in there to keep the dirt out.

Wax is your body's natural defence system kicking in to protect your extremely delicate ear drum. Basically everytime you stick something in your ear, your causing wax to accumulate. It just to protect your hearing... Quite clever really... :o)

i guess certain parts of our body uses different secretions to help protect us from bacteria.. thats pretty much why we have nose hairs.. to help trap dust and stuff.. kinda acts like a filter so we aren't constantly breathing it ALL in.. the ear wax i suppose help protect from bacteria as well.
