Back in the 80's Monty Python and The Young Ones came on Mtv, believe it or not. The Young Ones was hilarious.
My exchange chemistry teacher in college was from England and she used to watch a show on PBS called the Eastenders(?). She would ask our class if we watched it and we didn't know what she was talking about. I watched it once after that but didn't really get into it.
Other English shows that I have seen on American t.v. in my lifetime include:
Are You Being Served?
Faulty Towers
Red Dwarf (very funny)
Absolutely Fabulous
Some comedy show about an old couple I don't know the name of

Hello Bex!

I don't live in the US but many of my friends do and they love watching some british programmes!

Top of their list is the irresistible Hyacinth Bucket (Sorry pronounce Bouquet) and Faluty Towers!

None of them has come to grips with Eastenders because they find it hard to understand the accent, if they quite like Coronation Street !

I culdn't tell you which TV station they watch but it seems some of them (Friends are scattered round the US) Do show British TV programmes.

maximum of those courses i've got under no circumstances heard of. a great sort of situations, if a instruct is a extensive hit in Europe, they'll re-call it and sell it to the yank people. case in point, you have Pop Idol, they stole it and became it into American Idol. the only British programming we get is often on PBS like defective Towers and pink Dwarf and that i think of there is a few thing lost interior the way humor interprets. i've got under no circumstances truly understood them. There could be another cable stations that broadcast the shows you checklist yet I in user-friendly terms comprehend of British documentaries on the history Channel ;)

I LOVE Ab Fab!! I lived in Bedfordshire, England for 4 years and got hooked! We in America can only receive English programs whenever "the t.v. people" allow your programs. We have only American soaps here, but I loved "Eastenders" and "Neighbors". By the way, we do get Ab Fab here on cable t.v. and I hope others get hooked like me! I love British humor!

I know it's not on the air anymore, but I loved watching Coupling. I have no idea why the UK version is so much better than the American version. The British version is hilarious!
