You cannot just pull troops out on a whim. It makes them very vulnerable to attack and lots would die. The only way troops can be withdrawn is with carefull planning and in controlled stages.

In the case of Iraq whenever the decision is taken it will probably take several months if not longer to plan and several months to accomplish.

As troops withdraw and their numbers and weaponry diminish the enemies strength and firepower grows stronger to the point where they are vastly superior in strength and capable of over running our troops and massacring them.

We must give the Governments concerned time to make the decision and then allow the military commanders time to plan before they take time to stage a proper tactical withdrawal.

Of course if you feel strongly you can lobby and protest with others to try and get the government to see the need to withdraw but you must be prepared to let them do it the correct and slow way when that decision is reached.

It's wise to get our troops out of Iraq right now because of the already-growing opposition to this illegal war. It's since been a Vietnam-style quagmire that has cost the lives of over 2,500 soldiers since the hostilities has since ceased officially on May 1, 2003. Public support has since fallen for Bush since that point in time. Our troop's Iraqi occupation has fueled a growing threat of terrorism around the world. Take the Madrid train bombings in '04 and the attacks on the London transport system last July. It shows the growing terrorist threat _is_ real! al-Qaeda is taking full advantage of the situation! And this country has been in the terrorists' crosshairs since the 9-11 attacks! The insurgents are still killing our troops with IED's, car bombs, and deadly gun ambushes on a daily basis! You get what I'm saying here. And I want to see the troops home now! Enough is enough!

The only time to leave is when the job is done. We backed out of Korea and Viet Nam because of the politicians. The military could have settled the problem in both places if permitted to do what they wanted but the pansies were afraid of China. China was having enough problems at the time just going from day to day. A few well placed bombs could have ended the madness in both wars. Now we are giving them our money and showing them how we fight. How dumb can it get?? Unless we come out of Iraq with a real government in place there that can take care of itself our efforts were for nothing.

brian h 1998 you think like all these candy a** polititions like john kerry and ted kennedy. you think by just leaving these terrorists alone then they wont attack us anymore, thats a very foolish and cowardly way of thinking. if anything weve been too diplomatic over there. our position in iraq and afganistan has saved american lives. what do you think we should have done after sept. 11 2001. FREAKIN APOLOGIZED TO THEM!
