Chamomile or caffeine free tea with honey, should knock you right out. And if you have mouthwash, use it to kill the germs.

Drink juice that has vitamin C or get some ascorbic acid tablets (this is a fancy name for vitamin C) to help boost your immune system. These are used in canning at home, so look near the canning supplies at the store.
If you have tightness in the chest, use Vick's Vaporub. Steam and a heating pad might also help. You can steam just your face by pouring boiling water into a bowl, lean over the bowl (be careful not to get a burn), and trap the steam in with a towel over your head.
Your body needs sleep/rest to help your immune system fight the cold. Go to bed early and take naps if possible.

Lots of fluids, non caffienated. Hot tea with honey soothes coughing and sore throats, a good vitamin with C and Zinc will help. Really important most colds are viral so antibotics wouldn't kill them something taht does work is garlic, eat lots of garlic or take garlic tabs there don't cost much and garlic is a natural antibotic and anti viral !. Of course if your cold gets worse or you start to have difficulty breathing go to an ER

If you have a local health clinic or the health dept you can get free meds.
Also, if you could go to a doc and pay for the visit or make payments on it, he would have free samples to give you.
Try Cold Ease brand zinc cough drops, but eat something before you take them (nausea). They will break it up.
Gargle salt water, yucky but it soothes and help kill germs.
Taking a long hot shower always makes me feel better, but if you have a fever try a cool shower.
I hope you feel better soon.

Avoid taking bath[head and body].take only warm food and water[no soft drinks], warm water should be taken frequently to flush out the toxins from your system, gargle with hot salt water thrice a day, don't exert physically too much. take rest as much as possible, take light food[that can be easily digested by your system] and don't take any sort of medicine-your natural powers of the body will cure you in four to five days and you will be immune to cold for pretty long time. When you cough or sneeze try to see that the phlegm is spitted out completely.Next time when you feel that you are getting cold, gargle with hot salt water thrice a day, you can keep the cold away.

8 oz water 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar 2 tablespoons honey and add some lemon if you got it. no honey use sugar the vinegar is what I'm trying to get in you. it naturally cleans out the yuck that gets in you body. do it about twice a day to clean you body out. then if you can stand it its really not that bad,do it as a precaution or maitence of you body. i understand money issues trust me but this is a cheap way to keep your body in check.good luck baby.

A hot fruit tea with a dash of honey and lemon, a bath with those aromatherapy bubbles (if you have them), and lots of rest. Try to sleep as much as you can to help your body build up its immune system. And, failing that, a hot toddy always works for me when I have a bad cold: whiskey, hot water, lemon, and honey. Even if you don't like whiskey, it doesn't taste bad at all, and it really can help you sleep.

Garlic raises the bodies temp a degree or two, most "bugs" cannot survive at higher temps (part of reason we get fevers) so it could help
(plus keeps vampires away) :)
