If one disagrees with gay marriage, is one a bigot?

I didn't say I disagreed with it, I'm asking in general.

Based upon that definition, a bigot can take either side of the issue. I imagine a bigot to be closed-minded against others. Typically, we use the term against those who are intolerant of homosexuals or racial groups, but it could equally be used against those who are intolerant of differing opinions regarding issues, such as marriage. What does or doesn't define marriage is a matter of opinion, regardless of all the invective that follows this issue. If anyone is intolerant of anyone else's opinion, that would seem to make them a bigot. From my observation, there are both straight anti-gay bigots and gay anti-straight or anti-religious bigots out there.

I think you can disagree with the idea of gay marriage without being a bigot. But you can't disagree without being labelled as a bigot today.

Disagreeing does not make you a bigot. If everyone agreed about everything, this world would be very boring.. and likely things would still be set in the stone age. Disagreement is a way to learn. Being a bigot means that you not only disagree, but you are hateful and hurtful toward the person you disagree with. Being a bigot means that you have a completely closed mind and simply WILL NOT listen to the opinion, etc., of those with whom you disagree.
Simply put...
bigot=not acceptable,
disagree=acceptable when accompanied by an open mind.

I don't really know why someone would ask that but I think that gay people are people just like everyone else and that gay people sometimes have longer healthier relationships than some straight married people so I just think that people should stop judging them and let them have the same right that everyone else has and I think that people that objest to gay marriage are just scared of facing that truth that people are just that they are people and often things that are differnt scare people. I think people should just stop being judgmantal and let people be happy. I don't think that it is bigoted but I think it is very close minded.

I don't think such a person should be labeled as such, that would mean that all gay people can be considered bigots for disagreeing with straight marriages...there are many more descriptive terms that would best suit such a person, the most obvious one would be "human".

Disagreeing with a specific issue doesn't make you a bigot. Disagreeing with their right to their lifestyle does.

I think I have too much interest in my own life to care about who someone else prefers to cuddle up with. Most people who are against Gay marriage are lonely losers.

Yes you are b/c a person has the choice to be with whom ever they wanted to be with with out the judgement of others I mean they will have to answer to a higher power eventually so there is no room for anyone to judge another, remember those that judge don't matter and those that matter don't judge!
