...why yes. Sexual repression affects everything...According to Siva Rodriguez, "Some of the side effects of sexual repression as observed in human beings include lack of self-confidence, low self-esteem, depression, suicidal tendencies, and higher aggressive behavior. A child who has been taught to believe that sex is dirty and bad will often mature to become an adult who is self-conscious about his body and overwhelmed with guilt when the natural desire to breed arouses him."

You are right. Americans are quite uptight as a culture about sex. Most Americans have very rigid notions about gender and orientation. Despite all the work done since Kinsey to demonstrate that most human beings exist along a spectrum of sexual orientation neither being completely straight nor completely gay; it would appear most Americans do not believe that bisexuals are real or are making authentic choices.
Even in strictly heterosexual situations, Americans appear to be so uptight about sex that many of them will act out at some point in their lives quite promiscuously to demonstrate just how not uptight about sex they would like others to think they are. Too bad it doesn't really fool anyone.

I think it is half and half. Half of the people are too uptight about sex and the other half are waaaay too loose about it. I wish people would just find a happy medium where everyone could be comfortable with themselves and others.

Waaay to uptight us Americans are . I imagine its a conflict w/ their spiritual beliefs, and most of these people think their opinion matters , and they are quick to judge. I could careless if the neighbor was having camel orgies, just don't let them crap on my yard.

Yes, we are as a general rule. It leads to less education about sex. That's why there are so many STDs and unwanted pregnancies.

...yes...people who have problems in the bedroom usually are the ones who are the ones boasting about their escapades...And I think that people who have sexual problems usually have depression, stress, hypertension--and they usually develop physical ailments...And it's no secret that US citizens are not on the healthy list when compared to world standards (67% overweight)
