EVERYONE goes to the Coast, there IS an inland part of Maine. We've got pretty mountains and tons of rivers for canoeing.

If you like mountains try going to Sugarloaf, long drive but very pretty and when you get to Oh My Gosh corner, you'll see WHY it's called that.

If you want lots of people and lots of traffic, stick to the Kennebunkport/Wells Rt.1 area. OOB (Old Orchard Beach is kinda fun, it's the Canadian Riviera. Lots and LOTS of speedos on hairy French Canandians. But OOB is honky tonk and fun.

Portland is a GREAT city, great food great sites, etc...Portland Head Light and the Lobster Shack are MUSTS if you like light houses and fried seafood and the ocean.
Freeport is the home of LL Bean.
Avoid Lewiston, Auburn, Saco, and Sanford.

Seek out route 26 and the Rangeley area. OHYES! check out the Height of the Land.

And if you're in Portland, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET TO LOOK AT THE FISHING BOATS COMING IN. CONTINUE ON YOUR WAY, GET TO THE CROSS WALK. AND IF YOU HEAR

"RUN TOURIST RUN", it's me coming for ya!
