When you look at the music created between early 1980-1987, there was a genre of musical talent I believe the world will never see again.
Where has this talent gone?

The 90's music was what you listened to when your 5 seconds short of suicide, and the 70's music was simply 1-dimension heavy rock(for the most part)

60's music was fast-beat 3 minute songs designed for AM radio

And the 'music' today? Horrific...to say the least.

The 80's were a great era.

I personally like the 70's. I went to high school in the 80's. 80's was a time when music was turning towards queers: Boy George,Wham and George Micheal, Tears for Fears, etc but however there was some excellent music that I really enjoyed.Seventies music was awesome from rock , to disco,I loved the TV in the seventies with Happy Days, CHips,Eight is Enough,American Bandstand,Dallas, Starsky and Hutch and of course Charlies Angels with Farrah Fawcett Majors and Cheryl Ladd. Television in the eighties was ok with Cosby Show,Family Ties. Both eras were good but I have to choose the 70's overall.

OK yes, great music, 80s fashion returns (please not the shoulder pads!). But the 80s were typified by Nuclear proliferation, Tiannamen Square, Reaganomics, Thatcherism, the rise of the AIDS epidemic, the increasing US deficit which was not eliminated until the late 90s, the Iran-Iraq war and the US armament of Iraq, the suicide bombing of US marine barracks in Lebanon, the rise of Hezbollah and other terrorist organizations, American hostages in Iran, US support for anticommunist guerrillas including Osama bin Laden, the assassination of Indira Ghandi and attempted assassinations of Reagan and the Pope, the Iran-Contra scandal, Star Wars (the missile program, but the movies were great!).
The list goes on. Hardly a more Innocent time. In fact a lot of our current problems (Iraq, Afghanistan) can be traced to US foreign policy of the 80s.
But I still love the music!

The 80's was the best because everyone reaked of POLO cologne and wore cuffed jeans that were 3 sizes too tight on everyone. And the best of all were the low rider trucks with the guys and girls who used way too much aquanet to hold their pompodores and chacha bangs in place. Oh, and that Don Quixote song......."Don Quixote, Sancho Panza..". What great times... How about girls wearing jeans with the zipper in the back, nice fashion huh?

The 80's was definitely a great era, I wasn't an adult with adult problems, still had my parents taking care of me. But the best was both my parents were living, and now they are both in heaven. It's so true you never know what you have until it's gone.
