The Active X-support is part of your Internet Explorer browser. Some websites, like the Windows Update site, use this technology.
You can configure the settings via the Control Panel - Internet Options. On the Security tab, select "the Internet" and click on custom level. At the top of the list, you can configure Active X for the security level "the Internet".

First, start Internet Explorer. On the main bar, click on "Tools" and scroll down to "Internet Options." Click on the "Security" tab. Next, click on the "Internet" icon so it is highlighted. Click on [Custom level] button. Now, scroll down the window box and find the Active X settings.
You can choose from Disable, Prompt or Enable.
