I would recommend seeing a chiropractor. Chiropractors specialize in the structure of the spine and its relationship to the central nervous system (brain, spinal cord, and nerves). You see, when vertebrae are misaligned (what chiropractic calls a subluxation), they can pinch/damage the nerves running out between them and cause pain, numbness/tingling, or any other type of general malfunction to that nerve's corresponding body part. This seems to be what happened to you. Of course the chiropractor will take some x-rays so he/she can perform the proper treatment specific to your situation.
You should take the time to find a good chiropractor. Ask family and friends for recommendations, visit a few offices and choose the doctor that you are most comfortable with. No matter what you decide to do, I hope things work out for you!

RE:
I have a pinched nerve in my back....how can I relieve the pain?
I hurt my back at work and now have some sort of pinched nerve or something. It irritates me and hinders me when I have to stand for periods of time, which is what I do at work. What can I do to help this?

Go to a doctor, and ask for therapy. I have a pinched nerve in my shoulder due to bulging discs in my neck, and cannot live without physical therapy.

Ask someone to give you a massage. Or go to a one of the store that have massage chairs and sit in one . It should help. Feel better.

You will benefit from a spinal adjustment, but a complete work-up---x-rays- scans, etc. would be necessary for an accurate diagnosis...or drugs, lots and lots of drugs...
