simple - a ball is hurled at the batsman, bat strikes the ball. the further the ball goes those many runs can be taken. A run consists of going to the area from where the ball is being bowled. boundaries can be kept- eg: at the end of the garden. direct hit to the boundary gives 6 runs, otherwise 4. anything else?

I think there must not be any rules during the first year of TRAINING, yu may hit the bat anywhere and he may do so with the ball
