Because they realized what a shitty job they do with parenting, and when something goes wrong, they obviously cant take the blame. so they blame it on the next best thing, Myspace.

I agree that it is wrong for parents to blame the system for their lack of supervision and the child's exploitation. If the parents were more involved with talking to these girls about what they should and shouldn't say then maybe this wouldn't happen! I think parents should either put a block on the computer, talk to their kids about the dangers of the Internet, or check the kids my space accounts regularly. It's not the system's fault, it's the users!

Yes they are asking sexual questions just like they do here on this site and they have very provocative pictures of themselves on there. I think parents really should monitor what they're children are doing nowadays. I don't even have a My Space and I think its rather silly for parents to just go on and blame the site. Its the same with Internet chat rooms and how children get picked up there as well. I see nothing wrong with My Space I have friends that use it and there is nothing bad about it.

I know that they are asking sexual questions, but most of these kids are 12 and over. (Sometimes below). Their parents can't sit next to them for a long time like they did when their daughter got her first pocahauntus computer game. These kids are asking these terrible questions, talking to people who admit to being 40 or 50 years old, and then they agree to go over to their house. The parents can't supervise them EVERY second of the day. Maybe the kid has a computer in their room and they go on at night. Or when their parents are at work I think that myspace is a good site for kids to chat, but the adults just ruin it.

I fully agree with what you are saying and often wonder that myself.
As a mother, I don't understand how parents let their children post the pictures or say the things that I've seen on there (and on here for that matter). I think a lot of parents are in such a rush for their children to grow up, or they are to busy to even notice what they are doing online.
Of course, I have a big problem with the lack of respect that kids have these days too, and I think that's a parenting problem too. Actually quite a bit of the problems with teenagers today has to do with lack of proper parenting.

You have a very valid point. If parents were monitoring their chidren's internet activity, they would have no worries about what their child is doing online - because they would know! I can't believe some of the incredibly young people on here asking all kinds of questions about sex. Where are their parents? And where are the parents of the girls who post half-naked pictures on MySpace? Those seem to be the same parents that are complaining.

I agree, if parents would just check to see what their kids are doing ( this manily works for younger kids, its harder when they are 16-up) but if the kids dont lie about their age they would have private profiles for kids 14 and under and if the kids make friends with adults then they are inviting these rotten people into their lives. Its a scary world out there and as parents we need to be sure we do everything to protect and teach our kids the right way.

The bottom line is the internet is dangerous when used inappropriately. Just like cable, the internet should be monitored by parent's. If they aren't watching their kids, they shouldn't be blaming others for their own stupidity in parenting.
