A mixture of Borax and Icing sugar (50 / 50 blend) placed in shallow containers in areas where you see the ants will get rid of them.
Ants carry the mix to the nest where the it gets eaten and they die.
Keep the mix away from your pets.

Peppermint extract mixed with water. Spray directly on ants and in the path. I have a bird and this is what I have to use.

If you want to rid those ants naturally use chillie pepper power. Ants hate peppers.

use a braod spectrum anyt killer and spread over your yard. If inside use Raid or similar, that lasts for several months. Can use outside as well, but remember water washes it off. I'd put it on chair legs etc. before a party or anything!

I have pets so I like the non chemical treatments. I used baking soda around my base boards where they were coming into my house and they died and did not cross over again. I only had to do one application of this.
