Ok I think what you means is "How many days after delivering a baby should one wait to have sex?" The answer to that is 4-6 weeks. Most people do not wait that long but it really is better for your body if you do.

Your clinician will want to see you again in a few weeks for a postpartum checkup. Until then you may want to refrain from intercourse because your internal organs are still tender. The uterus is shrinking, you may be sore, and probably you are still having some vaginal discharge. However, many couples do resume sexual relations before the six week postpartum period is over. Depending on your physical and psychological condition, this is neither harmful nor dangerous, as long as you don't mistakenly assume that during the postpartum period you are immune from another pregnancy. Whether you decide to resume or refrain from intercourse, you and your partner can still share affection and maintain a warm, intimate relationship. Now might be a good time to plan your other babies. The whole idea of family spacing is, of course, up to you. But before you conceive again, allow your body to regain it's strength. You won't feel like your old self for at least three months. It's a wise woman who gives her reproductive organs a rest before she calls them into active duty again. If you have been using a diaphragm, it must be resized after pregnancy and childbirth; it is not safe to use your old diaphragm. Good luck to you!

Everyone on here who is saying 6-8 weeks is correct and I will tell you why, (I asked my Dr. after my third and her really filled me in) While it only takes a few hours for the cervix to dilate to ten centimeters it takes at least six weeks for it to close, if you have sex before the cervix is completely closed and healed you will cause a nasty infection that will put the mom in the hospital for at least a week on iv antibiotics. If you do it sooner and an infection starts and signs are ignored then the infection can actually kill or render the woman unable to have further children. At the six week post delivery check up your Dr will check to make sure everything is healed, this is why they also tell you no tub baths, no tampons and no douching its just to risky.

The mother has a lot of stuff going on down there after delivering the baby, she's discharging a lot of fluid and really needs time to heal. After about 6 weeks it's safer, but the mother needs to go to her Dr. for her checkup to make sure that everything healed properly and then can have sex. Don't rush it please!

Not days, sweetie...weeks. Since the woman usually bleeds for a couple of weeks after having a baby and needs time to heal, most doctors say to wait 4 weeks. That way there is no infection.

It's generally 4-6 weeks, but with a C-Section you want to definatly wait at least the 6 weeks. You don't want to cause any problems with stitches, etc.
Most women need plenty of time to heal, and shouldn't be pressured into it by their boyfriends or spouses. Put yourself in our shoes... would you like to have sex if you've just recently squeezed a watermellon out of a small hole? Even common sense says, NO.
