The doctor was probably looking at your cervix, just to be sure that everything was fine. Sounds like he used an internal probe to get a sonogram. However, you need to see a doctor who you can understand! Find out WHY the doctor felt that he needed to do a sonogram.

Was this a transvaginal ultrasound? Did the test results show up on the screen as a regular ultrasound...I mean, did you see a yolk sac? Did you go to see him because you suspected you were pregnant?

If your pregnant the tool is an ultra sound. he was checking to see how far along you were. It also checks the womb to see if everything down there is going to be able to handle the pregnancy.

i think i had this kind of test done when i was having issues with my ovaries. he used an internal probe to do an ultrasound. in america, this isn't a normal test for a typical, annual ob-gyn exam. why were you going to a doctor you didn't understand?

It sounds like it was a vaginal ultrasound to check your lower abdoman. You can look at the uterus, falopian tubes, ovaries, cervix...etc. Doctors can get a lot of info from doing a vaginal ultrasound.

This is called a vaginal ultrasound. They do this if you are earlier than 8 wks or so or cant see anything with doppler ultrasound. No big deal--
