OMG! I will answer this only to be entertaining. This is the oldest question on the planet. Well my theory is that the chicken came first. Yes chickens come from eggs but it must be layed and nurtured by a chicken. And if I'm not mistaken, a male (rooster) must fertilize it, I don't think chickens are asexual. So if you believe in creation of animals or even evalution or Big Bang then you would have to think it was the chicken.

In response to the website by one answer, it states the egg would have been layed by another species and the "chicken" was a mutation. Well then that species came first didn't it? It boils down to what you believe in when it comes to creation.

I have heard this question a bunch of times and I always say that it depends on what way you look at it! The egg had to hatch to bring the chicken but a chicken has to lay the egg to become a chicken! its a pretty weird question if you ask me!

The egg came first. In prehistoric times a prehistoric bird laid a couple eggs which became the first chickens. So chickens are related to dinosaurs...

Egg, obviously. Because through evolution the very first modern chicken had to hatch from something. It didn't hatch and then change into a modern chicken a few weeks later.
