I am going to an outdoor wedding this Saturday at 5pm (my aunt's 2nd marriage) and bought a new dress for the occasion but am wondering if it is appropriate to wear. It is a white cotton summer dress, spaghetti straps, with turquoise Indian-type designs on it (if you need a visual reference, you can see it here http://www.anntaylorloft.com/atlLMProductPage.process?RestartFlow=t&Merchant_Id=1&Section_Id=38&Product_Id=76646...hopefully the link works). I know they say you shouldn't wear white to a wedding, but would this still be appropriate? Or should I go hunting for a different dress fast?

I think the dress it quite pretty for a wedding. It's not to much. Also these days brides wear black to their wedding. I think it would be really nice to wear that dress especially since it is outdoors. The white will show up really well against the grass or other natural colors of the outdoors. So pictures will turn out nice. It does have some color in it and doesn't look like a wedding dress. So I think your Cool with wearing it.

Since this is your Aunt's 2nd marriage, I would assume that she isn't wearing white, therefore the dress is fine as long as you visually cut the amount of white that is showing by buying a short-sleeved shrug in the same blue as the design of the dress.

If you are still uncomfortable with the idea of wearing that much white, the only other possibility is, if you haven't worn it yet and the tags are still on it, return it and look for something without so much white on it, that way you will not be spending any additional money.

I think the dress would be appropriate for an outdoor wedding, unless the bride is wearing white. If she is, then you should go shopping for another dress

Beautiful dress! I say go for it.
The whole point of not wearing white is so you dont get confused with the bride. That dress looks different enough with the blue highlights that there should be no confusion.

Well i have to say that the dress is beautiful but it sounds like to me that you are struggling with this decision deep inside, Sure if you don't mind a few heads to turn and a few old women to comment on how you wore white then go for it if not i would look for something else.

Its a beautiful dress. A complimentary hairstyle, and similar high heels as shown in the picture would be an added bonus

"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for...instruction"; "In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array."
Do not be a stumbling block for men with your dress, hold fast to that which is acceptable unto the Lord.

if the bride's dress has a small tiny itty bit of blue, then no. if it doesn't then well i think that if the wedding is super-fancy then its way to casual.
