Dell, I fix/repair computers every week and I see far fewer Dell computers than any other brand (Desktops). As far as Laptops go I think I have only seen 1 Toshiba come in and the problems were owner induced...Toshiba is a very well built laptop and that is why I will only buy them for friends and family!

HP is by far the best. If you get a Dell your asking for problems them things are so crappy. But if I was you and I had the money and the know how and the time I would build my own. So many already built pcs come with hardware and the software with the drivers for that pc I know I have an hp and it has win XP but I want win 98 on it because of some of the pc games I have work with 98 better and all my hardwares drivers are only supported by Win Xp. And Dell well after you get a dell your ALMOST ( I said almost people so all you Dell users no hate mail ) anyways ALMOST all Dells that I know of have tore up within 6 months of them being first turned on :) take all facts into consideration and then go from there :)

I prefer a Dell only cuz theres nothing else thats good enough. But it really depends on what model. HP and compaq sucks. Gateway sucks more. I never had one person enjoy those computers. I have an emachine, they are cheap and they come with a DVD burner and they come with at least 160 Gigs of memory. I got it for $500, probably because I got it refurbished and I upgrade everything myself and changed some hardwares myself.

Don't bother with the name brands. Research some machines on Newegg.com, Dells/HPs and whatever other cheap machines are out there usually get bogged down with a bunch of useless software you're not going to use anyway, not to mention you're going to get stuck with horrible RAM, which is what makes your machine move faster as long as you have the processor to handle it. If its a PC you're looking for, go with at least 1 gig of ram and an AMD processor. I've built 2 AMDs back to back and never had any problems with them.

I prefer Dell myself. I've had plenty of others, the most recent being HP and they both broke fairly quickly, having plenty of things wrong with them as soon as I got them. I've had a couple Dells but I've never had a problem with them, neither has anyone I've known.

I have been using my HP for about 3 years now. The only problems I've had were caused by my own mistakes and stupidity. They hold up really well.
Also, my Dad used to repair computers and also sometimes builds them and he says that HP is the best and that's why he helped me pick mine out and picked an HP.

If HP is using Intel instead of AMD, it's just as good as Dell. AMD chips suck.
