Animals have a keen sense of knowing when they are going to die. Birds, like any other animal, will usually find a dark, quiet place to take their final breath. Under bushes is usually a good place to find them. You don't see them too often, however, because if a cat in the area sees a bird in distress, the cat will pursue the animal until it's lunch. A bird will never just fall dead out of the sky (unless it's hit by something and killed instantly).

I Have. In New York City, the birds then to fly right into the skyscrapers, killing them instantly and thus falling down to Earth. I've seen this a couple of times while there.
As far as where they go, assuming there is no human intervention to move it or take it away, the bird will eventaully get eaten by scavenger birds, such as buzzards or eagles. Eventually, the bird's body will decompose and thus becomes dust once again.

I have seen one fall from about 100 feet up. Must have been a bird heart attack or something like that.
I've seen lots of dead birds under the power lines. they don't last long once the cats find them.

I've never seen one fall out of the sky, but I saw a dead one on the train tracks yesterday. Also, I once accidentally killed a couple that flew in front of my van. It was so fast, and I couldn't swerve, since I had a 15 passenger van full of kids on a 2 lane road. I felt bad, but c'est la vie, it was an accident.

Have I seen them die?????
I saw them get killed!!!!
It was so bloody. I was just sitting there with some friends and one of them had a shotgun. Then when we were all quiet.... He yelled really loud and a whole bunch of ducks started to fly away from the nearby bushes.
He took two quick shots and just like magic, two dead birds, Ducks, came crashing down. one landed on the soft grassy ground, the other landed in the lake next to us.
So you ask me if I've seen blood..... yes, yes I have.

Hit dead by a car. That's the only dead bird I've seen.
I guess they just grow weaker and something hunts them down. I believe they definitely get eaten.

Yes, I saw a dead bird. It died because the cat caught it and well it ended up in the cats stomach.
