Because you are bound to get into an argument and you have to work with these people. As the only Republican in an office full of Democrats, I feel like I am in a field mine. I don't start anything, but I will give an answer if asked.

People are very passionate about their political opinions and will often argue or hold grudges. None of these things is good to have in a work environment.

Because work requires teamwork, which is shattered by differing opinions and anger both of which may occur when you discuss sports, politics, or religion.

I hate discussing politics anywhere, because people get so angry over disagreements. Especially when you prove to them that George W. is a goon.

because it is not professional. people have strong political beliefs and a debate can get loud in a hurry. also most bosses would rather employees talk about their job then politics. wait till lunchtime or afterwork to talk politics.

If you insult someone elses political views, you could loose them as a customer, loose your job (if you insult your boss), or end up shunned by your co-workes. Of course, you could end up making friends or making someone's day. Usually, it's better to keep quite.
