Gruene, Texas, is a darling little town that hosts tourists without being spoiled by them. Lots of independent coffee shops, restaurants, businesses, and to top it all off, it's right next to the Comal river. Weather's fine, visit it some time. It's right next to New Braunfels.

I can tell you to avoid New Jersey. We have the highest housing prices right now and the area ain't all that great. Take it from me, don't get sucked into this crappy area unless you have money or make lots of it.
