is there such thing as "furies" in sociology? i mean something like "laws and furies"? if so, plz explain...

My sociology teacher asked me to tell the difference between laws and furies... i have no idea what to write! i know what law is, and i know the meaning of furies but is there even a relationship? i mean i can see somehow the relationship, but it is not that direct or that obvious for someone to ask me to define the difference between them... right?

maybe that is the point. only someone with a true understanding of each could make that determination
