The humidity is higher which causes the temp. to feel hotter than it is. But that is not always the case. After Hurrican Wilma hit Florida, it was cold. A could front was what steered the Hurricane and once it moved through, it was really cold. It was really weird.

I think it's because the wind dies down. It's hot and humid before one hits, then the clouds come and block the sun, it's raining and then the wind is kicking. Once the Hurricane has passed the clouds are gone, the rain has subsided and the wind is gone and the air is still.

A hurricane is a humongous low front. Low fronts are basically pockets of hot air. The temperature will initially be cooled by all of the rain, but after the rain is gone you still have the low front some what lingering around. Since the rain is gone, that was somewhat cooling everything and the low front is still around, the temperature increases.

Because of the moisture in the humidity goes up and usually the atmosphere is still unstable . All the ground water becomes steam once the sun comes out and then it causes the humidity to rise making it fell sticky hot.
