Unless the doctor is part of your family, just change. I live in small town and work for a dr's office. We have had patients that feel that way. Doctors care about their patients but it won't devastated them if you change to someone else. Just find a new doctor and have them request your records. It's all business.

Be honest. Tell your doctor why you are leaving. Before you do, be sure the second doctor really IS better, and that he is CURRENTLY accepting new patients. Remember also that in a small town, if one doctor gets sick or goes on vacation the other doctor might take care of you doing that time- so don't burn any bridges...

See the doctor in person, so they find out from you, and tactfully state your reasons. The choice of a doctor is important, and a doctor must realise, as a professional, that he will not be best for all patients.

it's a bit hard, i know how things in a small town are, but you should be selfish in these cases. Try to tell the doctor that there's nothing personal but you just want to take more than one advice.. keep on calling him to ask questions, then he'll understand.

Provide "3rd party" scientific information from the following resources: 1) the Physician's Desk Reference on Nutritional Supplements 2) the Physician's Desk Reference on Herbal Supplements 3) the PubMed Database: www.pubmed.com
If the science is there, they can not dispute the alternatives you want them to consider.

You have a right to have a doctor that works best with your personality. Find something about this other doctor that the current one doesn't possess. That way it won't seem as personal.

Just go to a new doctor. He will request your records from the old doctor you don't need to say anything to your current doctor about leaving him.

You seem to worry more about others than you do yourself. Do what you feel is right for you. The Doctor will get over it.

Just do it. He will get over it. Most doctors are professional enough to take it on the chin, but if he asks you about it, just smile politely and tell him you needed a different perspective.

um...if the doctor isn't the right one for you, you have to think about yourself and not hurting his or her feelings. I wouldn't worry about what they think...do what you have to do to get the right medical services that fit you and your needs.
