We are leaving for the Outer Banks next Saturday. I haven't been there since I was a kid, so I am sure things have changed. We are staying in Corolla. My husband and I are going with his parents and siblings and their families. My husband burns easily so we don't like to just sit on the beach all day, we like to stay busy. Any suggestions of things to do while we are there? Good places to eat?

I am not sure when you were there as a kid but it has changed alot since I was there as a kid back in the 1980s. Today there is lots of shopping right around Corolla (such as a shopping area called Tim Buck II and another I cannot remember at the moment) so you could actually stay right up there your entire vacation and stay busy if you really wanted to. Of course, Duck to the south has grown a bit as has the busy Nags Head area which has really grown in the past twenty years, there is all kinds of shopping down that way now (so much so that personally, I try to avoid going down there unless I am going shopping or grabbing a bite to eat, the traffic can be just terrible). I have never tried too many of the restaurants around Duck (although I have heard many there are quite good), north, but the Keepers Galley in Nags Head and Darrell's (I hope I spelled it right) in Manteo are personal favorites.

You probably know all of the classic things to do and see such as the lighthouses, Wright Brothers' Memorial, and historic Manteo. There is now a big outlet center at the southern end of Nags Head which is pretty nice and lots of other little shops here and there along 158 (which is now 4 lanes all the way to Manteo). Manteo also has a number of nice shops and a few new things to see. In any event, have a great trip!

there's a place in Nags Head on S. Croatan street. I bypass via there purely approximately each week. It looks like a intense-high quality path too. i don't be attentive to what it is termed or the expenditures. look on your telephone e book for golfing courses. make specific it is not mini golfing.
