First off see if the paint is a Latex or oil. How long has it been there. Try using a product called GOOF OFF or OOPS. You should be able to find them at your local paint store.

if it is dry[sounds like it is] you will need to get a dull razor blade or butter knife and scrape lose paint off
if it is already dried into the carpet depends on what the base is
water based paint get one of those new machines used for spot removal...
the one you sit on the spot and it removes it.
looks like a vacuum cleaner
commercials are funny
probaby better than buying a whole new carpet.
My son burned a hole in his carpet with a lamp once
we removed the section[ square and replaced it with a piece of the carpet we had saved for such things .It was well placed and you could not tell it was ever ruined..

Any product sold in the Home depot paint department to remove paint from nylon paint brushes will remove paint from nylon carpet

Try "Afta". You can get it at Home Depot or Lowes. It stinks but does work. I used it to get red paint out of my carpet.

Try disoveit! but don't soak thru backing as it takes off all glues, but is gentle and I never seen it stain anything. Great on grease too! No I don't sell the stuff, but my husband paints allot!!!

try oxy clean make a paste out of it rub in and let set an hour or so and then wipe off.it should go away if not first time try again.oxy clean normally takes everything out the first or second time

waterless hand cleaner will take paint out of just about anything.
