There are a lot more of them right now!

Per the U.S. Census Bureau, there were already 50,454 centenarians in the U.S. in 2001.

Earlier this year on the PBS talk show, Charlie Rose, the guest was the author of a book entitled, Live Long Enough to Live Forever.

The author says essentially, humanity is making such rapid strides in science, the day is not far off, when there'll be about nothing there'll not be a cure for, hence the title.

Another author tells us, the science of this new age we're on the threshold of, is the science of Light We are told light will transform human modes of living in travel, transportation and medicine.

In the case of medicine, you'll be able to enter a clinic in the morning - on the brink of death - and walk out the SAME evening, a totally new and healthy person. People will then have to be taught how to DIE, when they want to remain around almost indefinitely.

They introduce three or four more every morning on the Today show. So yes, I'd say there will be LOTS more than 10,000 people who live to be over 100.

With the population becoming conscious of the hazards of smoking, drinking, lazy lifestyles, junk food, unnecessary medicines, they are now adopting better and healthier life styles with yoga, alternative medicines etc. and this may stretch life span.

But to counter these measures are the pollution, fast life, depression and high mortality rate.

The bridge between to those living HEALTHILY till 80, and those surviving like a vegetable till 100+ is evident.

No. Not many will cross the century. And even if they do come near, life will be not worth living for them as well as their faimly.

My heartiest wishes to the elderly, but truth is at times difficult to digest.
