It is a nice guitar. If you've played one and it feels comfortable, go for it.I've always found LP to be heavy and "chunky" feeling. I recommend you contrast it with other guitars, specifically a Fender Standard Stratocaster (which is available in a dual humbucker, or HH, setup if you prefer that sound) or, if you have your heart set on an Epi, look at the WildKat Deluxe or the G-400, both of which are a little lighter and right around the same price. I have nothing against LP's except they are heavy. They have a great sound and a lot of people will play nothing else.

Remember, though, that having a great guitar sound is 95% experience and 5% equipment. I've heard people make $3000 guitars sound like crap and people make $100 guitars sound awesome. The most important thing is to get a guitar you're comfortable with.

I've specifically recommended the WildKat because it is a hollowbody electric and they tend to give a different sound than solidbodies. The Beatles and Jack White play (or played) on mostly hollow body guitars.

jimi played strats
The Beatles used Rickenbacker's almost exclusively until they split
Jack White of The White Stripes uses two 1964 JB Hutto Montgomery Airlines, a Harmony Rocket, a 1970s Crestwood Astral II, and a 1950s Kay Hollowbody, all of which are heavily modified.

Go for it. The 2 classic electrics are the Fender Stratocaster and the Gibson Les Paul. Epiphone is a reputable name so I am sure this is a good Les Paul copy. Good price! As far as playing like the above mentioned people, its in your mind, brain, fingers and hours of practice. Not the guitar. You could be good and it wouldn't matter what guitar you had. The talent is in you. But a good guitar will bring out the talent.

Personally, I prefer the Gibson Model type Les Paul, but I've played the Epiphone Model as well. It sounds just as good or well enough. Hendrix was endorsing Fender during his time. Might want to try it out. The Fender Stratocaster is a great rock and roll guitar. Good Luck with your practising.

Most important is starting with the guitar you have If you want to improve style.
If you don't have a guitar get an accoustic one although it's not pimpin'

If you already know R&B beats then test it at a guitar store then order online.

Sh!t happens when you order online and you don't like it...

There really is no 'best choice'. You can play any of that with any guitar. Find the one that you can play the best.
